The Health Law & Policy Brief officially accepts applications for membership from current students of Washington College of Law during the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. However, we will consider extraordinary applicants on a rolling basis, and encourage qualified applicants to apply.
Qualified applicants should have a demonstrated interest in health law issues, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently or in a group, and motivation to succeed in time-sensitive situations. Working knowledge of the Bluebook is highly preferred, but each new member will receive training from editorial staff in proper source-collecting and citation techniques.
The Health Law & Policy Brief is open to all members of Washington College of Law, including 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, 4L evening students, and students in the Health Law and Government LLM program. Membership in another publication or organization at Washington College of Law does not preclude qualified applicants from participating on the Health Law & Policy Brief as well. In fact, membership in the Health Law & Policy Brief may be helpful in preparing students seeking to also participate in law review, as many of the responsibilities overlap.
If you are interested in applying for membership, please send your resume and a brief cover letter to Editor-in-Chief Katherine Freitas at healthlawandpolicybrief@wcl.american.edu. For applications received outside of our normal solicitation period, please allow two weeks for us to render a decision. Thank you for your interest in the Health Law & Policy Brief.
